The Book:

Here, I describe the book comprehensively. I use some witty banter, emojis, a couple of GIFs.

If there is a spoiler (such as a culprit), I always use white text on it, so it is hidden to those who don't wish to see it. If something is a spoiler, I put it in brackets [like this], and it can be seen by highlighting the word/phrase with your cursor.

Any GIF used on this blog is not of my own making. It is most likely from giphy.com, although I do get some from other places as well.

I will usually end the case with a phrase along the lines of "Another Case Solved!" and a GIF of the iconic "That's All Folks!" sign off.

Award Time:

To make my blog a bit more fun and unique, I like to include some awards at the end of my posts. If you can come up with a creative award, send the title and award description to me in either a comment or e-mail.

  • Best Friend Line: A funny, wise, or otherwise memorable line by one of the main characters: Nancy, Bess, George, Ned, Carson, or Hannah.
  • Guest HunkWhere we recognize the hottest/hunkiest male character of the book. Examples include Dave Gregory (The Secret of Shadow Ranch) or Jacques Brunais (The Treasure in the Royal Tower).
  • Monster of the WeekA character from the book, who we wish would be put behind bars for being a pain in the butt. This person cannot be the culprit. Examples may include Mortimer Bartescue (The Haunted Bridge) or Deirdre Shannon.
  • Most Gameable MomentA passage you could easily see being used in the Nancy Drew Adventure Games by Her Interactive.

In conclusion:

Sum up my general thoughts on the book, and give it a score.

I score using a magnifying glass emoji. I rate the books on a five-point scale, one point for each of the following: the mystery; the investigation; the cliffhangers/incidents; the characters; and the culprit. I also include its memorability, how it has held up over time, and how it held my interest. I like a combination of books from across different eras and series of the character, so I expect to see some diverse scoring of books released in the same time vicinity.

Some Future Clues:

Sometimes, I may include news of things going on regarding the blog, or the Nancy Drew character in general.

The Next Case:

If I know what my next review will be, I will post it here. Every one in a while, I might do a poll to see what readers might want me to read next.
